Confessions of a Home Organizer: Feeling Overwhelmed

The primary reason potential clients get in touch with us is that they feel overwhelmed. They reach out to us because they don't know how to begin or which products to use. It's a genuine problem. You start to feel stuck and unable to make any progress. Often, we know that a space needs to be cleaned and decluttered, but the thought of doing it can be daunting. It can seem like too much work, and you don't even know where to begin. Do you ever have those thoughts where you say, "I won't start today. I'll do it next weekend"? If that sounds familiar, know that even as an organizer, I sometimes feel the same way. When I have a big project, like going through my kid's clothes, I typically call in some backup to help. If you feel overwhelmed, you can ask a friend to help you. Start small, focus on one cabinet or one drawer. I always advise my clients to concentrate on small spaces rather than the big picture. Remember, you don't have to aim for perfection, just improvement. I've been on my own decluttering journey since 2020, and I still find myself decluttering spaces. Sometimes, I will randomly open a drawer or cabinet and ask myself, "What can I let go of to free up space?" I hope this helps you feel better about yourself and your own journey. Until next time, keep striving to be a better version of yourself.
